# THE SIX Hitchhikers.earth WORKSTREAMS

The **First Fellow** will lead work on Governance, Decision-Making and Membership The Hitchhiker's Guide to Not Being a Vogon

This workstream asks: who gets to make what decisions where? Who can join, what rights and responsibilities do they have, and what does member ownership actually mean? How do we handle emergence and allow the Constitution to evolve? How do we measure and review whether we are living up to our principles and ensure members can hold the platform accountable? This Fellow will need to address both the operational governance structure and the meta-question of how the Constitution itself can change over time. Who decides about changing these very rules? How do we prevent capture of any one stakeholder group, while allowing adaptation?

The **Second Fellow** will lead work on Economic Model and Value Distribution, The Hitchhiker's Guide to Pan-Galactic Value Exchange. The questions here are fundamentally about incentives: how do we define value? Not always in terms of money but we are also absolutely not averse to people making money. How do we generate resources without extraction, distribute value fairly, and ensure surplus flows to members and mission rather than external shareholders? How do we constitutionally prevent the platform from being sold or members' data from being monetized without permission? This Fellow will work on both the unchangeable economic principles (no extraction, member ownership) and the operational mechanisms for value exchange. The work will inevitably touch on legal contracts, whether blockchain-based or otherwise, and will need to establish clear boundaries about what can and cannot be changed as the platform evolves.

The **Third Fellow** will lead Data Sovereignty, AI Policy and Technology, The Hitchhiker's Guide to Marvin and Your Genuine People Personalities. This Fellow asks: how do members maintain agency over their data selves and the fast emerging relationship between biological and digital existence? What role can AI play in enhancing human creativity while ensuring transparency and human primacy? This workstream needs to establish constitutional rights around data while creating operational tools and policies that respect those rights. The Fellow will need to think carefully about what belongs in the Constitution (principles of data sovereignty, AI transparency) versus what should be operational policy that can evolve as technology changes.

The **Fourth Fellow** asks "What Actually is Hitchhikers.earth Fellow?" will lead work on reinventing The Hitchhiker's Guide to Creating the Very Best Life, the Universe and Everything Experience We Can! This Fellow asks: what does guidance actually look and feel like? They will imagine, if it is all working in 4.2 years time, what are we seeing? what are people making and sharing? What are they doing online and offline? What makes content Guide-worthy? How do we create engaging content across all forms (writing, podcasts, videos, interfaces, graphic novels) while maintaining quality, moderating well, and preserving Douglas Adams' spirit? How do we maintain that spirit of h2g2.com: work, rest and play? This workstream sits at the intersection of constitutional principles (what defines us culturally) and operational mechanisms (how moderation actually works, how content gets created and curated). The Fellow here will need to think deeply about how we evolve while maintaining the essence of HHGG.

The **Fifth Fellow** will lead Legacy, Preservation and Curation, The Hitchhiker's Guide to Time Travel. The questions here include: how do we honour and preserve the 25-year "h2g2.com" legacy and community contributions? How do we curate what is valuable, migrate historical content, and maintain continuity while enabling the next phase, and the one after that? This is not sentimental nostalgia. It is about understanding what made h2g2 work for a quarter century and ensuring those qualities persist even as we transform the structure completely. This Fellow will work closely with the Content Fellow on cultural continuity and with the Governance Fellow on how legacy informs constitutional design.

The **Sixth Fellow** will lead Launch, Membership and Getting The Word Out,

The Hitchhiker's Guide to What Do We Do on Thursday Morning. Arthur Dent never could get the hang of Thursdays. This Fellow needs to. Because when all the constitutional work is done, Thursday morning arrives and someone needs to actually get members through the door. This workstream asks: assuming we have built the initial conditions as wisely as we can, how do we actually launch this thing? How do we run the major membership push? What is the crowdfunding strategy that aligns with our mutual values? How does the Infinitely Improbable Lottery work? What partnerships make sense without compromising constitutional principles? How do we spread the word in ways that maintain the spirit? What competitions, events, and marketing approaches will work? They work with all the other Fellows to ensure the launch strategy serves the constitution rather than undermining it. And they recognize that if we get this right, the story of building this thing becomes part of what attracts members in the first place.

Running through all six workstreams like a constant thread is **The Heart of Gold**, Making It Real Fellow - the Core Creative Director

This is not a seventh separate workstream but rather the implementation, reality testing and cybersecurity work that supports all the others. The Heart of Gold team will build the technical infrastructure, ensure cybersecurity and operational resilience, and continuously check that constitutional ideas work in practice. They are the hands that make ideas tangible. They build the prototypes. They create the tools that allow us to test governance through actual use rather than abstract theory.
