Thoughtful Media

> We imagine a new shift in Knowledge Work brought about by the intersection of mobile phones, wearable audio tech and AI.

Instead of sitting hunched before screens, we envision engaging in thought, creativity and dialogue while walking, cooking or moving. These embodied environments (such as forests or kitchens) align with the natural rhythm of our bodies and promote deeper reflection.

By capturing spoken ideas via microphones and mobile phones, and processing them with AI, we open paths to richer, fluid and less commercialised ways to think and share.

This workflow connects to what we call Slow Dialogue. Rather than the immediacy of messaging or social media, slow dialogue offers a more ambient, asynchronous experience: audio notes exchanged over days or even months.

Such practice is often not prioritised by mainstream platforms due to the lack of advertising models or viral potential. Yet this gentle, reflective communication creates space for empathy, mindfulness and connection. It encourages a form of socialisation not driven by clicks but by sustained shared presence and common purpose.

By building these tools ourselves using open source, everyday devices and local AI, we move from experimental art installations to widespread personal use. We revive participatory, performative traditions (something we previously called Virtual Theatre) but places them in daily life through software, earbuds and mobile phones.

This isn’t a technical barrier anymore but a cultural one, requiring story, experience and taste-making to introduce new norms of digital interaction. With these building blocks, we imagine a future of digital communication that is reflective, ambient and human-centred.
