Four-Way Test

The Four-Way Test is a short set of ethical questions used in Rotary culture as a practical “pause and check” before speaking or acting, especially in situations where trust, reputation, or power dynamics matter - wikipedia

It is usually presented as four questions: - Is it the truth? - Is it fair to all concerned? - Will it build goodwill and better friendships? - Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

In a club or project setting, the Four-Way Test acts like a shared language for integrity: it helps groups challenge decisions without personal attacks, and it invites people to widen their frame from “what helps me” to: > What sustains the relationship network we all rely on.

It is not a law or a proof system, but a cultural tool: its strength is that it can be repeated out loud, used as a gentle nudge, and adopted by people with very different politics or beliefs, giving a diverse group a simple way to steer back toward trust when things get tense.
